A recent survey of 56,000 blog readers reveals some important information for advertisers. Blogs tend to create small communities of loyal followers who all share similar traits, which is a potential gold mine for marketers looking to reach a narrow segment of the market.
For example the survey shows that 77% of gossip-blog readers are college-educated women between the ages of 22 and 30. Of these women, 68% purchase clothing online. If I were looking for new places online to advertise women's clothing, I'd look into buying ads on gossip blogs!
I also think it's worth your time to start creating a list of blogs that are relevant to each of your clients' industries. This will not only get you more "tuned in" to that specific market but as indicated by this survey, may also help you find niche audiences to whom you can advertise.
What do you think? Is blogging a tool you're using for any of your clients? Are any of your clients pursuing advertising on blogs?
